Scroll down -- you'll see how my violinist has changed. I was just going to leave the earlier version and use that canvas for an underpainting for the future. But there was the model again.

I didn't paint from this photo -- it was taken from the same vantage point as my easel, so you can see the pose i was working from. Among the many things I changed, I reoriented his gaze toward me. Somehow, putting that vision in the painting made the connection that was missing.
