Adding some depth at Dupont Circle

The formerly flat sky now has depth and I've intensified the shadows to create some distance between near and far spaces.

The model today stretched and stretched before getting into her pose. I loved the energy of the movement before she settled in and went for a very quick capture.

Beach Day & Why Artists Can't Get Work Done

So I'm working today on yet another painting of the guy at the beach, but I can't wait to get back to working on my planned entry into this year's Peeps contest. I'm working on "Rowing on the "Peep-tomac" and here's how it's coming along:

Beach Day 2

My skinny-legged beach guy underwent some body adjustments today to muscle up his lower body and make his body proportions a bit more normal.

I might add a little sailboat to the horizon, adjust the umbrella, play a bit more with his ear/neck....

A day at the beach

This is a quick 1 hour treatment of the model in the studio today -- he was posed in front of a beach-print cloth and decked out for the ocean. The heat in the room added a certain reality -- in spite of the chill outside it was sun-baking hot in the studio.
